   I heard his speech today at work, and I must say that he is a smooth speaker. The only thing I wonder is, would it have been any better with the alternative? One side borrows to spend, and the other taxes to spend. One side bombs political targets for “economic reasons” and the other for “humanitarian reasons”. Obama will print money for people, McCain would have printed it to war.

   I suppose though that closed market capitalism is better than closed market socialism.

   Dave,

   The problem with that logic is that it is highly unlikely that the war(s) will be any longer/shorter whether McCain or Obama was elected. In fact, Obama’s endorsement of invading Pakistan is more hawkish than anything proposed by McCain…

   The more likely scenario would be that McCain would be vetoing new spending from the heavily-Dem-controlled congress, and not going any further in cutting taxes than asking for the Bush cuts to be made permanent (which is a net gain in revenue). McCain’s mortgage proposal was to come out of the $700B already approved, not an additional package…

   I suppose that is true. I feel very sorry for the American people. I wonder how long it will be before banks stop lending to your government?

   I thought the exact same new title for our nation; the USSA! Classic. Also, doesn’t Barry want to go into Afghanistan? I thought for sure that would ruin him in the eyes of the anti-war crowd. The basic problem seems to be that no one really knows what the role of the government is supposed to be anymore. We’ll know even less when the constitution is trashed. R.I.P indeed.
