Today was completely spent in Yosemite National Park, where we could have probably spent another day or two (if our trip was a month long…)
Best Laid Plans
For Day 3 (June 11, 2010) the plan was this:
Today is Yosemite day – traveling through Yosemite National Park, with some small hikes and waterfalls on the menu. I’m hoping Jordan doesn’t want to climb Half-Dome, or anything like that, since the tickets sold out the day they were posted online in March. We’ll be staying tonight at the same campsite, with hopes that the bears don’t get into the food box.
What Actually Transpired
Today, we spent the day in Yosemite National Park, and most everything went according to plan (other than a good deal of construction on the main road through the park). We went through the Mariposa Grove (lots of huge Sequoia trees) first, and then headed over to Yosemite Valley and went to a number of beautiful sites, including Lower Yosemite Falls, where Jordan climbed up to the base of the falls. Later, we hiked up to Vernal Falls, where we got all wet on the Trail of Mists. We then went up to Glacier Point for sunset, and headed back to camp.
One interesting sight of justice served – A ranger standing in the middle of the road, blocking a white convertible sports car, with an irate California blonde driver and her boyfriend, making them wait while all of the cars pass by that they were trying to pass in a bus-only lane.

Funny/Deep/Odd/Profound Observations
[Jordan in his sleeping bag] “Can you grab me a Gatorade?”
“You realize you’ll have to get out of the tent and put the empty bottle in the bear box, right?”
“Ugh. Never mind. I’m Good.”
_______________
“My Name is Haiku, but you may call me Mark” (an inside joke, naming the trees)
