Today was a gorgeous day as we left Yosemite and headed for San Francisco…
Best Laid Plans
For Day 4 (June 12, 2010) the plan was this:
We will leave Yosemite this morning, and take the relatively short drive (4 hours) to San Francisco (a nice place to visit, but I don’t think I’d ever want to live there). We plan to stay at the Hotel Nikko in downtown San Francisco – which we picked up fairly cheap (by SF standards) through Travelocity’s Top Secret Hotels feature. I suspect we’ll take in a number of the touristy sites like Lombard Street, The Presidio, Fisherman’s Wharf, and the Maritime National Historical Park. We’ve also got tickets for the Night cruise to Alcatraz Island. I’m sure we’ll probably work a movie in later in the evening, as well, since the A-Team movie comes out this weekend.
What Actually Transpired
Today, we got up reallllly early (at least by Jordan-time) – 6:30 – and broke camp, headed for San Francisco. We crossed the central valley, with miles and miles of fruit trees and fields, and stopped for a lunch of grilled gouda sandwiches at the cheese factory where the gouda was made. It was really gouda! We then headed into San Francisco and checked into the hotel before taking the cable-cars around town. We took the night cruise to Alcatraz, and spent several hours on The Rock, before heading back home on the cable cars. It was a long, fun, but exhausting day.
