This was Jordan’s first day by the Pacific Ocean, which was not all that pacific…
Best Laid Plans
For Day 5 (June 13, 2010) the plan was this:
Today’s plan is pretty simple: Hopefully, we will sleep in a little bit in the morning, since this will be our last night in real beds for a week. We’ll then pick up anything we still wanted to check out in San Francisco, like the Palace of Fine Arts, before we head over the Golden Gate bridge to the Marin Headlands in the Golden Gate NRA, where driving on the steep hillsides is always nerve-wracking. From there, we will head up the coastline (with a few beach stops, I’m sure) to Salt Point State Park just north of Jenner, California.
What Actually Transpired
Today went quite well. Chris got up early and got Starbucks for Jordan (while Jordan took a shower, making Chris happy), and then we drove a bit around San Francisco, including a trip down Lombard Street, and then to the Presidio and Fort Point, underneath the Golden Gate Bridge. The Center for Performing Arts was blocked from us by a bunch of rent-a-fences (which made us sad). We then drove through the Marin Headlands, stopping at Point Bonita Lighthouse, before driving up the coast to Salt Point State Park. Along the way, we stopped at Goat Rock Beach and got Jordan’s feet wet in the Pacific for the first time.

Funny/Deep/Odd/Profound Observations
“I don’t trust it – it’s got those ‘shifty eyes’” (Jordan referring to the harbor seal, half-asleep on the beach while posing for my pictures)
