This was a day of alternating beaches and giant trees in Northern California. Oh – and lots & lots of discussions on the evils of government and overregulation.

Best Laid Plans

For Day 6 (June 14, 2010) the plan was this:

Day 6 Planned Travel RouteToday, the plan was to leave Salt Point State Park and continue north on Highway 1 up the coast of California – hitting a number of beaches along the way – up to Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park. There, we will take some time to hike among the giant trees and head out to the shoreline. Depending on what time we get in, we may

What Actually Transpired

Today was a day of coastal driving, with lots of small roads dodging in and out of the beaches (with lots of drop-offs, as well). We stopped at Point Arena Lighthouse early on, and then drove up the coast, stopping at a few more beaches along the way. We had to detour just a bit so that Chris could find an internet connection to do his one bit of unavoidable work on the trip, and then continued up the coast, stopping to see the Redwoods in several places. We finished off the day by watching The A-Team (which Jordan had never even heard of, but thought was hilarious). That meant we had to set the tent up in the dark (again), but we survived (even if our neighbors were woken up).
