In some ways, Velvet Elvis has become something of a rorschach test, where Rob Bell plays the part of a boy pointing out that the emperor is only wearing his skivvies. Whether you see it as affirming of the Christian faith or heretical is indicative of whether you see it from the standpoint of the boy or the emperor’s sycophants, respectively.
