With the Christmas season approaching, I would like to humbly suggest that if you’re going to buy one Christmas album – one you can play year ’round, even – You need to run (or click), don’t walk, and pick up Andrew Peterson’s Behold the Lamb of God: The True Tall Tale of the Coming of Christ.
This album eschews the contemporary practice of remaking traditional Christmas songs (or writing new ones), and instead provides the beginning to end story of the coming of the Messiah, beginning with Moses, tracking through Matthew’s geneology into Bethlehem, and finally to John the Baptist’s proclamation “Behold the Lamb of God…”
Artists on the album include: Andrew Peterson, Jill Phillips, Derek Webb, Sandra McCracken, Andrew Osenga, Ben Shive, and others.
Musically and Lyrically, this album is an A++ – and the best thing is, you don’t have to put it away on December 26th.
